Dr. Wang has a practice emphasis on minimally invasive surgery (arthroscopy) and reconstructive surgery of the shoulder, elbow, and knee. He earned his medical degree at Duke University Medical School in 2003, and continued at Duke University Medical Center to complete his orthopaedic surgery residency. He then pursued a subspecialty fellowship in sports medicine at Southern California Orthopaedic Institute, working with Dr. Stephen Snyder, one of the world’s foremost shoulder surgeons.
Dr. Wang is known in the community as an expert arthroscopic surgeon and regularly teaches orthopaedic surgeons how to improve their arthroscopic skills in rotator cuff, shoulder instability, ACL, and meniscus surgeries. He is one of a few surgeons who performs arthroscopic rotator cuff allograft reconstruction for large tears, restoring the tendon anatomy while avoiding the trauma to your shoulder musculature that would otherwise occur from an open surgery.
Dr. Wang has authored numerous articles and book chapters, and has given presentations on shoulder and knee related problems at national conferences. Dr. Wang was awarded an NIH research fellowship grant, as well as a Duke University research grant to support his work in the past.
Dr. Wang is committed to sports medicine and has served as a team physician for the Sacramento River Cats, Duke University men’s basketball team, Sacramento City College, and the Sacramento Capitals World Team Tennis. He is committed to closely working with all patients, whether elite athletes or weekend warriors, to help them return to active lifestyles, using both non-surgical and surgical means.
Dr. Wang is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and holds professional memberships from the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the California Orthopaedic Association, the Arthroscopy Association of North America, and the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine.
Dr. Wang has always enjoyed the outdoors and became an Eagle Scout in his youth. He is an avid sports enthusiast and particularly enjoys running, skiing, tennis, and basketball.
